Rope Rescue Challenge

What is the Rope Rescue Challenge?

FAQ

What is the goal of the rope rescue challenge?

Rope rescue teams consist of minimum five and a maximum six 6 specialist operators. Within the team one member is the Team Medic and one other is the Team Leader.

The rope rescue team leader must assess the situation by gathering information. They will then formulate a plan and manage the team to execute the rescue.

The Team will always have to access the casualty first. They must then assess the casualty’s condition before stabilising, then carefully package them appropriately before transporting to safety.

Each evolution will involve elements of raising, lowering vertically or moving horizontally using technical rope work.

What are the scoring criteria of this challenge?

Scenarios will be assessed, using common criteria based on safety, efficiency, and effectiveness, by a team of up to three UKRO rope rescue assessors who will score one or more of the following areas: incident command and control, (command); physical rescue and general techniques, (technical; pre-hospital care, (medical).
